Dedicated to preparing our students for the 21st century, Colonial High School presents a diverse, progressive and exciting selection of programs of study and curricula.  Colonial is a comprehensive high school designed to provide well-rounded preparation for all students, leading to success in college, post-secondary education, and the work place.

ADDITIONAL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

 

1. A passing score on the FCAT.

2. Full time attendance, or a minimum of 8 semesters in grades 9-12.

3. All students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (C)

on a 4.0 scale to be promoted to the next grade level and for gradation.

4. All students must take Personal Fitness. *Students who entered as 9th graders in June, 1999, must also complete an additional 0.5 credit in physical education. 

5. The new one-credit physical education requirements, including Personal Fitness, can be met through participation in Junior Varsity Level Sports for two full season in addition to passing a comprehensive state assessment. Freshmen sports on longer apply for students entering ninth grade after July 1, 1999. The waiver requires two full seasons of participation and satisfies the one credit physical education requirement. Students may not meet the Personal Fitness requirement through one season of participation and then take another semester of physical education.

6. Fine Arts courses include music, drama, dance, painting, ceramics, sculpture, speech, and debate.

7. Practical Arts courses include vocational courses.

8. For students who entered as 9th graders in June, 1999, the electives requirement is reduced to 8.5 credits. 

9. All Florida state universities (and most other 4 year institutes) require 2 years of a foreign language for admissions; three years is suggested.
