The Academy of Automotive Service Technology provides hands-on experience that integrates training with work study.  Apprenticeship opportunities with auto dealers are available for advanced students.  ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified professionals are on staff to teach and mentor students. 

This exciting program provides the following:

  • Hands-on experience that integrates training with work study.

  • Apprenticeship opportunities with auto dealers available for advanced students. Apprenticeships may be full or part-time.

  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified professionals on staff to teach and mentor you.

  • Opportunities for dual enrollment in Mid-Florida Tech so that you may specialize in a particular area.

  • The ability to develop marketable skills that will provide you with a stable and financially secure future.

  • Access to academic and technical professionals who will work together in order to create a relevant curriculum.

  • Gold Seal scholarship opportunity

In addition, students will receive training in:

  • Suspension and Steering

  • Brakes

  • Electrical Repair/Electrical Systems

  • Heating and Air Conditioning

  • Engine Performance

  • Metal Repair

  • Welding

  • Plastic Repair

  • Frame Repair Theory

  • All Stages of Auto Refinishing

Program Requirements

  • Students must be on the Tech Prep team in 9th grade

  • 2.0 weighted GPA to enter

  • Currently on grade level to graduate

  • Pass exit performance and a minimum of two ASE certification exams

  • Students exiting the program must meet industry standards

Automotive AYES

Automotive AYES is a an apprenticeship program for advanced students in the Academy of Automotive Service Technology.  Requirements include:

  • 2.5 GPA

  • Instructor recommendations

  • Junior or senior classification

  • Dealer interviews

  • Mature and self-motivated

Students who successfully complete the program are:

  • Guaranteed job placement assistance

  • Waiver of the first year mandatory on the job training required for ASE certification
