Team Name: Element 945
This current year, 2002-2003, we are still busy competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Even with the Robot on it's way to UCF for Regional Competition, the team is still hard at work with inventory and the mysterious "Tug Bot."
During the robotic building process, which started in January until mid-February, our team went everyday after school to Oak Ride High School, whom still kept their doors and machine shop open to us. The dedicated team, even took it upon themselves to go there every Saturday, and sometimes even on Sundays. The students, teachers, and mentors were still all there, still helping out whenever they could.
For more information on FIRST and the competition we are competing in, please feel free to click on the link above and read more.
This year, we were fortunate in finding sponsorship through, Universal Studios Florida, and most importantly, the Universal Studios Tech Services. Without their help and dedication to our team, our robot would not have been completed.
This year, we have yet to compete in any of the competitions, only recently shipping our Robot off. However, they are approaching soon. We are competing in the Central Florida Regional, which is being held at University of Central Florida, on March 20-21, feel free to come out and show your support for our hard working team. Also, thanks to donations from many community businesses, we are lucky enough to go to Nationals again this year, in Houston, Texas on April 11th and 12th.
Visit our last year's robotic's page to see awards, pictures and sponsors.
Our plans for next school year, 2003-04Our team's plans include competing US FIRST Robotics Competition again. We are going to start looking for fund raisers to participate in and searching for sponsors ASAP. The average cost of competing in two events and building the robot is around $20,000. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact: Mrs. Cindy Andrews by email or at the above phone number. If you are interested in helping to build the robot (adult or student) again feel free to contact Mrs.Cindy Andrews. We are currently meeting everyday during lunch in room 2-115 selling food for a fundraiser and also looking for ideas to help spark sponsorships and community involvement.
